Bayview Garden Hotel

This small
boutique-hotel, owned and managed by a dutch-
indonesian family, brings the best of two
cultures together: Western comfort and hygiene
in an abundant tropical ambiance. We speak
Dutch, English, German and Indonesian. It’s the
only hotel in the surroundings where you get the
feeling of living in a botanical garden, with
more than 400 species of fruit-trees, flowers,
herbal plants, vegetables, cacti and so on,
ingeniously terraced to follow the steep slope.

More a guest house
than hotel, the rooms are immaculate and well
kept. Its nothing like an international hotel,
but we really enjoyed the open air living room
with a stunning ocean view. The bedroom is
air-conditioned and a nice retreat.
Upon check in, a
thermos of hot water and a variety of coffees
are delivered in a basket with some local
peanuts.

Adrien, the owner, is very kind and helpful. He
helps make arrangement for dinner, which can be
delivered from any of Labuan Bajo’s few
restaurants. Adrien delivered a couple of
bottles of ice cold Bintang to our room, which
we drank will taking in the incredible view. We
just sat on the veranda for two hours watching
the happenings in the port, and enjoying the
slow sun set behind Komodo National Park.
Fantastic!!!

Breakfast is ordered the day before on a white
board near the entrance and is delivered to the
guest room exactly when requested. The
continental breakfast is simple and delicious.
The hotel also offers an Indonesia breakfast as
well.

The main strip of Labuan Bajo is a 10 minute
walk down a hill. Getting back up the hill can
be sweaty, so its best to take a bemo for about
1-2,000 rp, which stops right at the hotel
entrance.
We would definitely stay at The Bayview Gardens
Hotel and Viewpoint again, and highly recommend
it for the gracious hospitality of the owner and
his family, the welcoming spirit we received,
and the incredible view of Labuan Bajo and
Komodo National Park.

At 60 meters above sea-level the view from every
room over the old fishermen-village, the harbor,
the bay and the islands in the
Komodo-archipelago is undisturbed and
breath-taking. And so are the red sunsets in the
rainy season.
Some of the rooms have
an indoor open living-room next to the small
sleeping-room and the bathroom; others have a
private terrace
outside
the more spacey sleeping-room and bathroom. All
have hot and cold water, AC, a lot of fans and a
safe, spring beds and good sound-isolation.
Privacy is the key-word. An extensive western
breakfast is included in the price.
The eco-character is fully optimized by saving
and cleaning the rain- and wastewater, recycling
all that’s edible by our life stock and making
compost. On request we serve an extensive lunch
and dinner (set menu) or, for more than four
people, an indonesian buffet, rijsttafel, which
will please your throat. Get surprised!
